Free Printable Apple Counting

August 19, 2018

Your little learners will have fun practicing their counting with this hands-on free printable apple counting activity to go along with the book Ten Apple Up Top!

I love being able to come up with new activities to go with books. Since it’s the beginning of the year and we’re learning our numbers, I thought it would be perfect to make a free printable apple counting activity to go along with Dr. Seuss’s book, Ten Apples Up On Top! It fits perfectly with our apple unit at this time as well.

This is a great addition to your center rotation or for your early finishers to practice their numbers and their counting.

THIS ACTIVITY WORKS WELL WITH

To play the apple counting game, download, cut, and laminate all of the pieces so the game can be played over and over again. Included are numbers 1 through 10.

Have the student place all of the number cards in a pile face down and all of the apples in another pile.  Have them turn over a number card and place that number of apples on top of the dog’s head.

Have them continue through the number cards to practice counting. It’s a great activity for the students to practice their number sense.

If you are working on apples, you may want to check our literacy snack idea for apples using the same book, Ten Apples Up On Top!

Today's literacy snack read-aloud is Hey, Little Ant. What would you do if the ant you were about to step on looked up and started talking? Would you stop and listen? What if your friends saw you hesitate? That’s what happens in this funny, thought-provoking book. Originally a song by a father-daughter team, this conversation between two creatures, large and small, is bound to inspire important discussions. It might even answer that classic childhood question: To squish or not to squish?Come and see the snack idea and grab the printable to go along with the book here primaryplayground.net/literacy-snack-idea-ants-free-printable/ ...
