Literacy Snack Idea Bear and Sandwich + Free Printable

So many people are distance learning right now, but I still wanted to share an easy and fun literacy snack that you can share with your families. At the end of all of this craziness, it can be adjusted to do in the classroom as well.

So for this week’s literacy snack, we are reading, The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach. If you do not have this book, you can search for it as a read-aloud online and there are plenty of options available.

It’s a silly book that follows a bear on an adventure and comes across your sandwich and eats it. So of course for this week’s snack to go along with the book, we’re making YOUR favorite kind of sandwich.

To Assemble

The kind of sandwich you make is all up to you. Make your favorite! This will be an easy snack to have your parents make with their kids at home. I made a peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich which is MY favorite sandwich. My son’s favorite sandwich is peanut butter, honey, bananas, and bacon. What’s yours?

Free Printable

I made a free printable for the kids to work on while they’re enjoying their sandwiches. They get to draw and color in their favorite sandwich ingredients on the printable.

You can download the free printable from my TeachersPayTeachers store below.

If you’re looking for another activity to go with the book, you might like our Cooking Class How To Make A Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich or How To Make a Sandwich. They are a fun way to incorporate many different learning standards. In this pack, the students are learning writing, sequencing, retelling, life skills and much more. It’s a great hands-on activity to get the students excited to learn.

I hope your kiddos enjoy this fun book and get a fun tummy at the same time. See you next time!
