Happy New Year friends! I hope you’re well rested from break and glad to be back! For our first Literacy Snack for the new year, we’re reading, The Snowy Day, by Eara Jack Keats. It’s a wonderful book that captures the adventures of a little boy on a snowy day in the city. My favorite part of the book is when he puts the snowball in his pocket and comes to find it has melted away. I just knew we needed to have snowballs for our snack this week.
Powdered donut holes – I did 4 per student
That’s it, just donut holes but oh boy, we had a fantastic time talking all about snowballs and playing in the snow etc. There were some pretty great stories considering we just came back from break.
While they’re eating their snowball snack, I made a free printable for them to work on. They get to draw a picture of their favorite thing to do in the snow.
You can download the free printable here.
We also got to watch the video of the story on amazon. If you have a prime membership you can watch it for free here. Have you seen it?
See you next time!
