These counting mats are a fun hands-on way to practice numbers. The students will help gather the correct number of acorns. They can then practice writing the number. Laminate the pages so they can be reused over and over with a dry erase marker.

These work great for math centers and during small groups.

We used real acorns or you can use play dough or small puff balls from the craft section. I’ve seen small acorns in the fall section of Hobby Lobby that would be fantastic or you could even use mini erasers. I have also included a page of acorn pieces both in color and black and white in case you’d like to use those.
