It’s already getting quite hot here, in the low 90’s but I know that isn’t the case for everyone right now. I see people are still having snow days in April, just crazy! I just couldn’t pass this book up so I wanted to squeeze in one last book about spring.
For this weeks literacy snack idea, we’re reading, Good Morning, Grizzle Grump! by Aaron Blecha.
“Winter is over! Spring has sprung! Grizzle Grump has just woken up from his long winter slumber. His big bear belly is quite rumbly. So he sets off with his trusty squirrel sidekick in search of a springtime snack.
He gathers berries, but they go missing.
He catches fish, but they disappear.
Grizzle Grump finally finds his food…along with another big surprise!”
For this week’s snack to go along with the book, we’re are having the same snack that Grizzle Grump has at his Rise and Surprise Bear Fair, berries, fish and bugs!
peanut butter or nut butter
We’re putting together a super simple snack today! We’re making the old time favorite, ants on a log. You simply take a piece of celery that is cut approximately four inches long. Use a knife to add some peanut butter on it and pop the raisins on like ants. Add the black berries and goldfish crackers for the students and they are all ready to have a picnic just like Grizzle Grump!
While the students are enjoying their picnic, I made a free printable for them to work on. They get to draw in the picnic snack that they having along with Grizzle Grump.
You can download the free printable from my Teacherspayteachers store below.
I hope you students love this fun picnic snack like Grizzle Grump as much as mine do! Happy Spring!
See you next time!
