Literacy Snack Idea Hibernate + Free Printable

Literacy Snack Idea Hibernate + Free Printable

for your shopping convenience, there are amazon affiliate links provided in this blog post.

This week we’ve been working on our hibernation unit. One of my favorite books to read during this unit is  Bear Snores On, by Karma Wilson. Bear books are always a favorite with the kids and it ties in nicely.

“One by one, a whole host of different animals and birds find their way out of the cold and into Bear’s cave to warm up. But even after the tea has been brewed and the corn has been popped, Bear just snores on!
See what happens when he finally wakes up and finds his cave full of uninvited guests — all of them having a party without him!”

For this weeks snack, the students are making their own caves with bear inside!

ingredients

Each student will need

1 full size graham cracker

a tablespoon or 2 of shredded coconut

1 teddy graham bear snack

assemble

To assemble the cave, have the students break their graham cracker in half. Lean them against each other forming the cave. Have the students sprinkle their shredded coconut as the snow in front of the cave Last, they can put their bear inside of the cave to hibernate.

Bear Snores On Snack

After the students have made their cave, I created a printable for them to work on sequencing from the book. They will number the boxes in the order they happened in the story and then color the pictures.

Hope your students enjoying making their bear cave snacks!

See you next time!
