This week’s Literacy Snack Fox Read-Aloud is a new book for me this year. I couldn’t pass it up when I was ordering my books from Scholastic. We’re reading Little Fox’s Surprise by Trace Moroney.
Little Red Fox is missing from the Annual Fall Fair and he leaves clues for Big Red Fox to find him. Friends like Little Squirrel, Little Bunny, etc help Big Red Fox look for Little Red Fox. There’s a glimpse of him in each picture; a bit of tail, a sock… fun for the students to try to *find* him in each scene.
For our snack, we of course need to make Little Red Fox. I’m excited about this one because he’s simple, but it’s something that I’ve been making for my own kids during Christmas time for years as part of our Advent calendar activities.
These resources work well with this article.
Ingredients
Each student will need
1 slice of pumpkin pie
1 chocolate chip
A little bit of whipped cream
1 Nilla Wafer
Assemble
This guy is super simple to make. Have the students break their Nilla Wafer in half and put them on near the crust as his ears. Help them put a bit of whipped cream on the end of the piece of pie and place the chocolate chip carefully on top as his nose. Last place the eyes on. Pumpkin pie is one of my all-time favorite things so it’s one of my favorite Literacy Snacks!
Free Printable
While the students are enjoying their snacks, I’ve made a free printable for them to work on. The printable has all of the clues that Big Red Fox found to help find Little Red Fox for them to color.
You can download the Literacy Snack Fox Read-Aloud free printable from my Teachers Pay Teachers store by clicking the green box below.
I hope your students enjoy this cute little story and snack as much as mine do!
Thanks for stopping by!
