There are so many fun fall book ideas that have to do with acorn and the changing of the season. We used Squirrel’s Fall Search for our read aloud as a jumping-off point for us to use acorns with our math practice.

Getting Started

The set up is super easy for this activity. Simply download and print the Free Printable Acorn Ten Frame Cards by clicking the green download box at the bottom of this post. Cut them out and laminating the cards is suggested for durability. Have your little learners gather up some acorns to count with and you’re all set! You can store them in a sandwich size bag or we like to use clear plastic 4X6 photo cases too.

Each card has the number and the number word for recognition. Have the students fill in the correct number of acorns for the squirrel hat match the number on the card.
