To Play

Download and print the free printable alphabet match pages below. There are 2 options, a page of uppercase letters and a page of lowercase letters. Choose a page for them to play with. The students will need some type of letter manipulative to play the game with.

Some idea are:

magnetic letters

small wooden letters

foam letter

scrabble tiles

To start off, we used the uppercase letters. They matched the uppercase foam letters to the letter on the page saying the letter as they place the foam letter down. It’s a great way for them to start off recognizing their letters.

It will also help them exploring alphabetical order as they go.

To make it a bit harder, we moved to the lower case page, matching the uppercase scrabble tiles to the lowercase letters. It’s a little tricker since the letters no longer look the same.

These are a great addition to your centers for the beginning of the year. It’s a fun hands on activity to build their letter recognition and fluency. Having different manipulative for them to use is always a plus too to keep them engaged.

  1. I love these!!!! I use them in my special education classroom. I have magnet letters and some small eraser letters from Target that just fit.
