This week we’re talking colors! There are so many fun ways and books to use to teach about colors. For this week’s literacy snack idea, we will be using Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes by James Dean.

“Pete the Cat goes walking down the street wearing his brand-new white shoes. Along the way, his shoes change from white to red to blue to brown to WET as he steps in piles of strawberries, blueberries, and other big messes!”
For our snack today, we will be having an array of things that Pete stepped in, strawberries, blueberries, and mud! (Well, we’re having chocolate pudding as our mud!)
For each student, you will need
A small handful of blueberries
A chocolate pudding cup and spoon
This is a simple snack week. No assembly required, just a lot of yummy eating of the strawberries, blueberries, and mud (chocolate pudding)!
While the students are enjoying their snack. I made a free printable for them to work on. They get to draw a picture of their own shoes and write in what color they are in at the bottom.
You can download the free printable from my TeachersPayTeachers store below.
If you’re looking for more fun activities to use while teaching color,s be sure to check out our Color Book Study Book Companion. It uses the book we used for our snack today, along with The Mixed-Up Chameleon and Brown Bear Brown Bear.
I hope your students enjoy their snack and following along with Pete on his shoe adventur3e. See you next time!
