Literacy Snack Kindness Read Aloud
This week we’re focusing on sharing kindness. It is such an important thing to practice in the classroom and there are a ton of fantastic and fun ways to do that! For this week’s Literacy Snack Kindness Read Aloud. we’re reading, The Jelly Donut Difference, by Maria Dismonday.
“Leah and Dexter are brother and sister. They don’t always get along. In fact, there are times they can be downright mean to each other. The ooey, gooey jelly donuts in this story are a testament to the power of kindness, caring, and generosity.”
It’s a great book that proves that small acts of kindness can go a long way and how good it feels to work together to do something nice for others.
Since they make these yummy jelly donuts in the book, it’s only fitting that we’re having jelly donuts for our snack today.
THIS ACTIVITY WORKS WELL WITH
Ingredients
This one is easy! Stop by your favorite donut shop and buy some jelly donuts! I stopped at our local little donut shop that makes the best blueberry-filled jelly donuts. The donuts at our shop are huge, so I bought enough that each one could be split into quarters for the students and it was plenty!
Free Printable
While the students are enjoying their jelly donut snack, I make a free printable for them to work on. They get to write about a way they can be kind to someone and draw a picture about it.
